Cardiac Arrest & Double Bypass 23-Mar-2008 Essential Information
Not rated

The Cardiac Arrest (1 lap 8 mile XC) and Double Bypass (2 laps 16 mile XC) course is built and ready to go. Online and postal registration is closed but you can still enter either race on the day. The forecast is for snow so anything could happen. Expect the worst that our glorious British weather can throw at us. I'd advise the wearing of warm clothes but you're going in and out of water so please just keep this in mind.

The course is over very mixed terrain some hard surfaces but mainly unsealed and muddy surfaces to some sort of XC shoe with spikes might be your best option.

Race Schedule
  • 08:30 Registration opens.
  • - All competitors please collect timing chips and race numbers
  • - On day entrants please complete an entry form and pay via cash or cheque (payable to Heartbeat Event Limited)

After about 30 minutes of racing the weather broke a little and the snow melted into mud. I can't say the water got warmer but it didn't deter anyone one little bit. The two lappers running the inaugural 16 mile Double Bypass didn't have to go through the water until there last lap - no one likes people floating face down in the water - but on lap two they dove in just as keenly as the Cardiac competitors did.
